Itineraries

Day 01

Date : January 1, 1970

Kilimanjaro international airport (jro) to arusha city-55km/1hr

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, and you will be warmly welcomed by one of our experienced driver guides.He will escort you to Arusha town, introducing you to this wonderful city. Arrive at your hotel for an overnight stay and the breakfast – Karibu. Overnight at Green mountain hotel for bed and breakfast.

Day 02:

Arusha city londorossi gate to forest camp-(140km/3hrs drive)

Elevation (ft): 7,800ft to 9,500ft Distance: 6 km Hiking Time:3-4 hours Habitat: Rain Forest Depart Arusha for Londorossi Gate, (which takes about 5 hours) where you will complete entry formalities.Then, drive to the Lemosho trail head (another hour drive).Upon arrival at the trail head, have lunch, and then commence waking through undisturbed forest which winds to the first camp site.

Day 3

Forest camp to shira camp 1

Elevation (ft): 9,500ft to 11,500ft Distance: 8 km Hiking Time 5-6 hours Habitat: Moorland Continue on the trail, leading out of the forest and into a savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. Ascending through the lush rolling hills and crossing several streams, we reach the Shira Ridge before dropping gently down to Shira 1 camp.Witness the amazing view of Kibo from across the plateau.

Day 4

Shira camp 1 to shira camp 2

Elevation (ft): 11,500ft to 12,500 ft Distance: 10 km Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Habitat: Moorland Explore the Shira plateau for the whole day.It is a gentle walk east toward Kibo’s glaciered peak, across the plateau which leads to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream.A variety of walks are available on the Plateau making this an excellent acclimatization day. You can also visit the ancient collapsed Shira cone, the oldest of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanoes.

Day 5

Shira camp 2 to lava tower to barranco camp

Elevation (ft): 12,500ft to 13,000ft Distance: 15 km Hiking Time: 5-7 hours Habitat: Semi Desert From the Shira Plateau, continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo.As you continue, the direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the "Shark's Tooth." Shortly after the tower, reach the second junction which brings you up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000 ft. Continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 13,000 ft.Here take rest, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 6

Barranco camp to karanga camp

Elevation (ft): 13,000ft to 13,100ft Distance: 5km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert After breakfast, leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite.This is a short day meant for acclimatization.

Day 7

Karanga camp to barafu camp

Elevation (ft): 13,100ft to 15,300ft Distance: 4 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert After breakfast, leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail.Continue up to the Barafu Hut.At this point, you have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here, set up your camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day.The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.

Day 8

Barafu camp to summit to mweka camp.

Elevation (ft): 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft) Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent Habitat: Arctic Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), continue your way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers.Head in a north-westerly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim.This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point (18,600 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting).From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you will reach the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa.Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit.From the summit, continue straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch.You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, enjoy your last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

Day 9

Mweka camp to arusha /planet lodge

Elevation (ft): 10,000ft to 5,400ft Distance: 10 km Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Habitat: Rain Forest After breakfast, continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates..From the gate, you continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to Arusha for Overnight at Planet lodge on Bed and breakfast basis.

Day 10

Arusha city ->tarangire national park-120km/2hrs drive.

After breakfast, pick up and drive to the office for quick brief before heading towards the south to the stunning Tarangire National Park.Your afternoon game-drive will be accompanied with the picnic lunch and you will see all the wonders of Tarangire. Later in the evening, drive to your camp for leisure and hot dinner. Dinner and overnight at: Sangaiwe Tented lodge on Full board

Day 11

Tarangire-> serengeti national park-280km/5hrs.

After breakfast, collect your lunch boxes and leave the Camp. Your journey takes you to the west and north, to the Serengeti. After enjoying a picnic lunch, you'll be eager to pursue some more great wildlife-spotting opportunities in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.Late afternoon you proceed to the camp for hot dinner and overnight stay. Dinner and overnight at: Tanzania Bush camp on Full board

Day 12

Serengeti-> ngorongoro conservation area-145km/3.5hrs drive.

The exciting sounds of Africa will rouse you from your sleep.We make the most of the day with an early start.Later, the adventure will continue when we travel up to Ngorongoro, via Oluduvai Gorge (optional activities), another African icon ending at the rim of the crater for leisure and hot dinner. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife lodge on Full board.

Day 13

Ngorongoro crater->arusha city-190km/3.5hrs

Leave for the World Heritage Site – Ngorongoro Crater, after the breakfast. You will descend into the caldera floor that represents 260 square km of paradise on Earth.The game drive aims to satisfy your senses and complete your wildlife safari for this time. Reminisce wildlife and cultural adventures on your way back to Arusha for drop off at Planet lodge on Bed and breakfast basis.

Day 14

Planet lodge-kilimanjaro international airport.-55km/1hr drive

After breakfast the driver will pick you up and transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport for your flight out.
